The Loom of Heaven

Posting Guidelines

Introduction

Welcome to The Loom of Heaven, a faith-based website focused on explaining and defending the Catholic faith in discussion with Jehovah's Witnesses and atheists. These guidelines are intended to promote a respectful environment for comparing and discussing honestly and openly these different beliefs and worldviews. Please be sure to comply with the following guidelines:
Guidelines
  • We welcome open and honest discussion involving different points of view, but we insist on respectful and constructive correspondence with all. Offensive, threatening, or harassing content will be removed at the sole discretion of the moderator. This absolutely does not mean withholding what you believe to be true, but it means doing so with respect and with charity.
  • Posts should be relevant to the exploration of the differences of beliefs and worldviews of Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses and atheists. Off-topic posts may be removed.
  • Don’t troll. We appreciate and welcome alternative viewpoints (that's why the site exists — to identify and engage such), but comments that add no value to the discussion or that are merely insulting will be deleted at the moderator's discretion.
  • Please avoid self-promotion and spam.
  • Contributions should be original and respectful of copyright laws.
  • Respect privacy. Do not share personal information without explicit permission.
  • If you have a disagreement with another user, please handle it responsibly and charitably.
Consequences
  • If you encounter comments which violate our guidelines, please ‘flag’ or ‘mark as spam’ — we have zero tolerance for comments which we believe to be inappropriate or insulting, exhibit troll-like behavior, or have legal ramifications.
  • By posting here, you acknowledge that the site's moderators have absolute license to remove any post deemed to violate our guidelines.
  • Users who violate these guidelines may receive a warning or may be banned. We reserve the right to remove any content that doesn't adhere to these guidelines.
  • We may occasionally update these guidelines if and as needed.

How to comment:

  • Our comments run on the third-party Disqus platform, which requires users to set up an account unless they wish to post anonymously as "guest".
  • You can register a Disqus profile either directly with Disqus, or with your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts.
  • We prefer posters use their real name because they are then more likely to behave in a mature, adult fashion rather than hiding behind a pseudonym. Of course, if you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses and are in fear of being hauled before a judicial committee for visiting a site such as this, feel free to post anonymously.
  • Unlike the early policies of Facebook and Google, Disqus does not require you to use your real name. You can comment as "guest" but will still be required to enter a name and email address. You may make up any name you like (for example, "Pimo Witness", lol) and any email address you wish (again, for example, "pimo@jw.org"). We do ask that you always use the same 'anonymous' name and email you first select, to ensure continuity of identity throughout comments.
  • Posters are asked to maintain one profile only, and the moderator will flag IP addresses of repeat offenders. Repeat offenders with multiple accounts will be banned from our comments section.
  • Links to other websites are disabled, to protect our site and visitors against spam and malware.
